Spot Colour

Print method — one of 27 in the glossary

A single premixed ink colour printed from its own screen, as opposed to building a colour out of overlapping process inks. Spot colour gives exact, repeatable brand colours and is how a logo gets matched precisely. Each additional spot colour adds a screen and therefore cost, which is why simplifying a design to two or three flat colours changes the price of a run so much.
