Chino Cotton

Fabric — one of 56 in the glossary

A medium-weight cotton twill with a fine diagonal surface, originally military trouser cloth and now the standard fabric for chinos, work trousers and some cap fronts. It is tightly woven, hard-wearing and holds a crease, and it is usually treated with a wrinkle-resistant or stain-resistant finish for uniform use. The flat, dense surface takes embroidery cleanly and is one of the easier wovens to decorate. Check for an applied finish before heat pressing, since those coatings can stop an adhesive bonding.
