Structured

Garment — one of 28 in the glossary

A cap built with buckram or a similar stiffener sewn into the front panels, so the crown stands up on its own whether or not anyone is wearing it. Structured caps hold a tall, square profile and give embroidery a firm, flat backing, which is why almost all front-panel logo work is quoted on structured styles. Unstructured caps, with no stiffener, collapse into a soft, low profile and need a backing added before they can be embroidered cleanly. If a customer wants a crisp logo on the front panel, steer them to a structured cap.
