Unstructured
Garment — one of 28 in the glossary
A cap made without buckram in the front panels, so the crown folds down and follows the shape of the head. The result is the soft, low-profile dad-cap look that dominates retail, and a cap that can be rolled into a bag. The absence of a stiffener is an embroidery problem: with nothing behind it the fabric distorts under the needle, so a cutaway or tearaway backing is essential and dense fills should be kept modest. Expect slightly softer detail than the same design on a structured cap.
