Micro-Suede
Fabric — one of 56 in the glossary
A polyester fabric woven from extremely fine filaments then napped on one face to imitate suede leather. The short, dense nap gives a soft, dry, slightly grippy hand at a fraction of the cost of real suede, and unlike leather it is washable. It appears in jacket panels, cap fronts and accessory trim. The nap is the decorating constraint: it flattens permanently under heat and pressure, so a heat press leaves a shiny halo, and embroidery should be kept light or run with a topping to stop stitches sinking.
