Heat Transfer Vinyl
Print method — one of 27 in the glossary
Coloured vinyl cut to shape with a craft cutter, weeded of its excess, and applied with a heat press. Cutting is driven by vector art, so a bitmap logo has to be redrawn first. The cheapest way to start decorating, and the standard for names and numbers on team wear. Each colour is a separate layer that must be cut and weeded by hand, which makes detailed or multi-coloured artwork impractical. Needs a reasonably smooth surface to adhere cleanly. Commonly abbreviated HTV.
