A jacket or vest that folds into its own pocket or an attached stuff sack, so it can be carried without being worn. It is achieved with lightweight shell fabric and low-bulk insulation, which is why packable pieces are thinner than their warmth suggests. They are popular corporate gifts because they ship and store small. The shell is almost always a coated nylon or polyester, so decoration is embroidery or a low-temperature heat transfer, and the coating means a test piece before any heat-applied run.
