Lycra® Fiber

Trademark — one of 16 in the glossary

INVISTA's registered brand name for its spandex fibre. It is the same class of elastic fibre as any other spandex or elastane, not a different material, but mills pay to use the name because buyers recognise it. On a spec sheet "5% Lycra" and "5% spandex" tell a decorator the same thing: the garment stretches and recovers, and it will not tolerate the heat and dwell you would use on plain cotton. Treat any Lycra content as a signal to drop press temperature and test one piece before running the order.
