A single fold of fabric folded to both sides and stitched down at the top, usually set in the centre back below the yoke of a woven shirt. It releases extra fabric across the shoulder blades so the wearer can reach forward without the shirt binding. It is a traditional dress-shirt detail that also appears on camp shirts and some outerwear. For a back print or an upper-back embroidery it is an obstacle: the fold sits exactly in the centre and will not flatten, so decoration is usually placed above the yoke seam or skipped.
