Tubular Collar

Construction — one of 70 in the glossary

A collar band knit as a continuous tube, so it has no seam where the two ends meet. The seamless join is stronger and lies flatter than a butted and stitched band, and it avoids the small lump at the back of the neck that a seamed collar leaves. It is a reliable marker of a better blank, usually appearing alongside side seams and ring spun yarn on the spec sheet. Practically, a tubular collar is the one most likely to still lie flat after fifty washes.
