PFD
Treatment — one of 37 in the glossary
Prepared for Dye: a garment made and finished specifically so it can be dyed later, usually by the decorator or a specialist. PFD goods are left undyed and are free of optical brighteners, softeners and silicone finishes that would resist dye or blotch the result. Because those finishes are also what interfere with ink adhesion, PFD blanks are prized for tie-dye, garment dyeing and discharge printing, where a clean, untreated cotton surface is essential. Expect them in natural or bleached white only, and expect noticeable shrinkage, since they have not been preshrunk.
